Why You Have to Make These Three Musketeers Rice Krispie Treats

Can we talk about how genius this whole concept is?! The recipe was inspired by Cookies and Cups’ 3 Musketeer Cupcakes โ€” she melted down musketeer candy bars to make a frosting, and the moment I saw that, my brain went straight to krispie treats. I literally could not stop myself. I am obsessed with finding new recipes that take a classic treat and spin it into something next-level delicious, and this one absolutely delivers. The fluffy whipped nougat center of a musketeers bar melts into the marshmallow mixture in the most dreamy, gooey way. I really can’t even.

And honestly? These are one of my all-time favorite rice krispie treat recipes because they come together SO fast. We’re talking pantry staples plus one bag of musketeer candy bars and you are basically done. If you want to explore more fun variations, my Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats and these Cookie Dough Stuffed Rice Krispie Treats are equally irresistible โ€” just saying! ๐Ÿ˜

What Makes the Three Musketeers Bar So Perfect Here

Okay, let’s geek out on the star ingredient for a second! The 3 musketeers bar is that classic chocolate-covered, whipped nougat candy that has been around in the United States since 1932 โ€” fun fact! Unlike mars bars or other chocolate bars that have caramel or nuts in the mix, the musketeers bar is all about that light, fluffy center. That makes it absolutely ideal for melting into a marshmallow mixture because it just dissolves into this creamy, chocolatey dream. We love to see it. And if you’re a fan of homemade candy creations, you might also adore this Homemade Butterfinger Recipe โ€” another copycat candy situation that is SO worth making!

Ingredients You Will Need

I love that this recipe uses such simple ingredients โ€” nothing weird, nothing hard to find! Here’s what you’re working with: one bag of mini Hot Chocolate 3 Musketeer Candy Bars (or regular musketeer candy bars work great too!), half a cup of miniature marshmallows (hello, marshmallow fluff vibes!), three tablespoons of butter, and five cups of chocolate Rice Krispies cereal. That is literally it, you guys. Some folks also like to add a handful of dark chocolate chips on top for extra richness โ€” totally optional but highly recommended by me personally. ๐Ÿซ The marshmallow fluff texture you get from melting everything together is just *chef’s kiss.*

How to Make Three Musketeers Rice Krispie Treats Step by Step

Ready? Let’s do this! First, unwrap all your candy bars and toss them into a large, microwave safe bowl along with the miniature marshmallows and butter. Microwave for about one minute, then stir with a silicone spatula until everything is smooth and gloriously melted together. A silicone spatula is honestly the best way to get every last bit of that marshmallow mixture out of the bowl โ€” don’t skip it! Keep your heat on low heat if you prefer to do this on the stovetop in a large pot instead; just stir constantly so nothing scorches. Gradually fold in your cereal two to three cups at a time. Towards the end, I find it’s way easier to just grease my hands and mix it that way โ€” real life kitchen hack right there! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Pressing and Setting Your Treats

Once your mixture is all combined and looking ah-mazing, press it firmly into a parchment paper lined, lightly greased 8×8 baking dish. Parchment paper is seriously your best friend here โ€” it makes lifting the whole slab out SO much easier when it’s time to cut. You can also use wax paper in a pinch if that’s what you have on hand, though I always reach for parchment paper first. Press everything down firmly using greased hands or the back of a greased spatula for an even, pretty surface. Then let it set for 30 minutes to an hour at room temperature. No baking sheet required, no oven stress โ€” just patience (the hardest part, I know). Once set, lift out of the baking dish and slice into squares. Optional but amazing: drizzle with melted chocolate right over the top for that extra wow factor! โœจ

Tips for the Perfect Treat Every Time

A few little tips to make sure yours turn out perfectly! First, don’t overheat your marshmallow mixture โ€” low and slow is the name of the game whether you’re using the microwave or a large pot on the stove. Overheating makes the treats tough instead of soft and chewy, and nobody wants that. Also, work quickly once everything is melted together because the mixture sets up fast! I also think this version is ESPECIALLY fun topped with a little marshmallow fluff โ€” you know, leaning into those hot chocolate vibes? It’s so good. And if you are a big fan of no-bake bars and easy rice krispie treat recipes, definitely check out my Toffee Snickerdoodle Rice Krispie Treats and my all-time Perfect Rice Krispie Treats Recipe โ€” both are absolute must-makes! Storing and Serving Your Krispie Treats

These beauties store really well! Once cut, stack them in an airtight container with layers of parchment paper or wax paper between each layer so they don’t stick together. They’ll keep at room temperature in an airtight container for up to three days โ€” though honestly, in my house they never last more than about 12 hours, ha! These also make a perfect treat to bring to a family picnic, holiday cookie exchange, school party, or really any gathering where you need to feed a crowd fast. They travel so well, which I am obsessed with. Pack them up for your next family picnic and prepare to be everyone’s favorite person. ๐Ÿ™Œ

Fun Variations to Try With This Recipe

Once you make these, I promise your brain is going to start spinning with ideas for new recipes โ€” mine absolutely did! You can swap in regular chocolate bars or even mars bars for a slightly different flavor profile. Swirl in some dark chocolate chips while the mixture is still warm for pockets of rich, melty chocolate throughout. Press the mixture onto a baking sheet instead of a baking dish if you want thinner, crispier bars. You could even try topping them with a drizzle of white chocolate for a gorgeous contrast โ€” hello, holiday treat board goals! And if you are looking for even more fun no-bake sweet treats to add to your rotation, my Watermelon Rice Krispie Treats are a total showstopper for summer, and these Golden Grahams S’mores Bars are basically a campfire in bar form. So many options! ๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ”ฅ

  1. I made these last night and while we are traditionally a “regular” rice krispie treat family, these did NOT to begging. They are delicious. I didn’t put the chocolate drizzle on top as I thought they’d be rich enough without it but would probably do it if giving as a gift — which these are certainly worthy of being. Thanks for posting this fun and delicious recipe.
