Salted Caramel: Our Swanky Collection

Is there anything better than the combination of salt and caramel? We say no. We love it so much, we’ve pulled together our favorite Salted Caramel recipes for you.

Does it seem like you can get salted caramel everything now? It’s a match so perfect, who would complain. It seems such a natural combo that must have been around forever. But no. As it turns out, salt and caramel didn’t find each other until 1977.

Before 1977, traditional caramel was made with three simple ingredients: sugar, cream, and butter. But Chef Henri Le Roux was searching for something new to jazz up his creations. He lived in Brittany, France, which is famous for its salted butter, so instead of regular butter, he used regional butter. It’s officially registered in France as Caramel au beurre salé.

Since 1977, salted caramel has found its way into so many yummy recipes. We’ve gathered some of our favorites for you here. We start at the beginning with our recipe for Salted Caramel Sauce, so you can come up with your own creations.

We have included our own favorites including an array of options from cupcakes to cheesecake to pie to fudge to, of course, ice cream. And we’ve thrown in some interesting combos you might not expect. Oreos? Why not?

ENJOY!
