Bueno Bar Ice Cream

My brother recently returned from a BYU Study Abroad program in Paris. When he asked what kind of a souvenir I wanted him to bring back for me, I didn’t hesitate to ask for something edible.

How unlike me :)

He brought me back a box of Bueno Bars. Have you heard of them? He said they’re a super popular candy bar over there– like a Snickers or a Butterfinger here.

They’re basically a hazelnut cream filled Kit Kat and taste amazing chilled. He brought me a huge box of 16 bars… and I couldn’t stop eating them. I decided to make some ice cream with them to slow myself down {yeah- cause ice cream’s the way to do that} and share the candy bar love with the rest of the family.

This ice cream recipe is SUPER easy and really delicious. It doesn’t require an ice cream machine and the mess factor is pretty low. And it only takes about 4 hours to freeze and set (sometimes my ice cream maker ice cream takes longer than that)!

Bueno Bar Ice Cream
Recipe adapted from: Kevin and Amanda


Step 1: Whip two cups of heavy whipping cream, and set aside.
Step 2: Whisk together 1 can of sweetened condensed milk and about 1/2 c. Nutella 

Step 3: Chop up Bueno Bars and add them to the sweetened condensed milk mixture

Step 4: Fold the whipping cream into the milk mixture. Use a spatula to completely incorporate
Step 5: Cover and freeze for at least 4 hours

*Kit Kat’s instead of Bueno Bars would be delicious too! In fact, you can change this recipe around to be anything you want it to be. See Kevin and Amanda’s blog for the original recipe.

    Firstly I’d just like to say… WOW!

    I’ve always thought I wasn’t much of a dessert chef and the entire time I was making this I kept thinking there was NO WAY it would turn out right or something would go wrong. Much to my surprise I have never EVER tasted a more yummy icecream in my life and to think I made it myself :D The mess was really bad but it made it so worth it when I woke up this morning to taste the first teaspoon!
