Chocolate Frosting Recipe for Brownies or Sheet Cake

Buttercream is great for decorating cupcakes or gorgeous layer cakes, because it holds shape so well. But when it comes to icing a sheet cake or pan of brownies, this supremely fudgy chocolate frosting is just so much better.

Chocolate Frosting Recipe For Brownies Or Sheet Cake

Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons butter, softened
  •  6 tablespoons cocoa
  •  2 tablespoons corn syrup
  •  2 cups powdered sugar
  •  1/4 cup skim milk

Directions

  1. Use an electric hand mixer to whisk together all of the ingredients in a large bowl until a smooth frosting forms.
  2. Keep covered until ready to use.

Even though I typically use my KitchenAid stand mixer for most frosting recipes, this one is soft enough that I always use a hand mixer.

This is my favorite hand mixer. I like that it’s “level one” speed doesn’t blow the powdered sugar right out of the bowl!
