Easy Reese's Popcorn Munch | somethingswanky.com
The key to perfect popcorn is, of course…not burning the popcorn. Any of the popcorn. Because once you’ve got one rogue burnt piece, the smell of it is enough to ruin the rest of the batch. Not to mention the smell of your kitchen! And, can I just ask–how can a bag of burnt popcorn stink up a room for soo long???????? Seriously, it sticks around for days. Someone explain that to me, please!
Anyway. I’ve decided that we need a popcorn sensing sixth sense. Like, some kind of super sniffer that lets us know right before the popcorn is going to burn. So that we can sprint to the microwave, hit the stop button just in time, and pull out our perfectly popped bag of not-burned popcorn.
Hey, guess what! Now there’s an app for that.
#perfectpopapp Rocks!
Pretty awesome right? Pop Secret has made an iPhone® app called Perfect Pop to help make sure every single bag of Pop Secret pops perfectly. You can download the app for free on the Apple App Store* or find a link on PopSecretLabs.com! It’s SUPER easy to use… Once you’ve downloaded the app, simply place it near your microwave (but not on or in) and press start at the same time you start the microwave.
Use an APP to pop the perfect popcorn! somethingswanky.com   The app “listens” to the popping sounds happening in your microwave and lets you know when it’s time to hit that stop button!
Use an APP to pop the perfect popcorn! somethingswanky.com The “almost done” guy is my favorite. How cute is that?! And this app even congratulates you when you manage to pull your bag out on time… I don’t know about you, but I’ll take a little extra positive reinforcement any day. Even from an animated popcorn kernel 🙂 !
Once you’ve successfully popped your popcorn, I highly suggest you move on to one more phase of prep work…the drowning of your perfectly popped kernels in chocolate and peanut butter, followed by a good tossing with miniature peanut butter cups and peanut butter candies.
Easy Reese's Popcorn Munch | somethingswanky.com This popcorn is a family favorite, and I’m sure you’ll love it too! We like to eat it while the chocolate is still warm and melt-y (napkins are a must). But, you can wait for it to cool and harden before serving. Just be sure to eat it within about a day of making it for the very best taste and texture.

Peanut Butter Cup Popcorn

Ingredients

  • 1 - 3 oz bag Pop Secret popcorn (in butter, kettle corn, or 94% reduced fat)
  • 3/4 cup chocolate melting candy (like Hershey's Baking Melts or Candiquik)
  • 2 Tbsp. crunchy peanut butter
  • 1 cup Reese's Mini Cups
  • 1 cup Mini Reese's Pieces

Instructions

  1. Pop popcorn according to directions on box (or using your Perfect Popcorn App!).
  2. Remove popcorn from microwave and place popped kernels in a large bowl.
  3. Melt the chocolate and peanut butter together (about 1 minutes in the microwave) and stir until smooth. Pour over the popped popcorn.
  4. Use a rubber spatula to coat the popcorn in the chocolate/peanut butter mixture. Toss in the peanut butter cups and candies.
  5. Eat straight from the bowl right away, or spread on a piece of parchment paper or a silicon mat to cool and harden.

  1. I remember burning popcorn when I was a kid. That was back before microwaves. I set off the smoke alarm in our apartment and I was in big trouble with my mom.

  8. No major story for me with pop corn, just I have burnt my share of them in the microwave. The smell lingers for days, it seems, frustrating. I tend to cook it now on the stove top the “old fashioned” way.

  9. My worst popcorn story is when my daughter wanted to pop some popcorn. She left it in the microwave for 10 minutes and then went outside. I was out already! When she went to check it it was all but on fire. Smoke was rolling out and needless to say my microwave was black! It was scary!

  13. I have one of the worst stories! When I was younger, my parents were gone on their anniversary. A neighbor snuck into the house and tried to make Hershey kiss popcorn. He stuck a kiss covered in aluminum foil in the microwave with the popcorn bag. Sparks everywhere! We all kind of freaked out and then he locked himself in the bathroom so the babysitter wouldn’t get him, but that’s another story.

  28. My worst popcorn burning story was when I still lived at my parents. They had this grate in the microwave that was metal , which was microwave safe oddly enough so we didn’t think of removing it for any reason. Well, we heated up a bag of kernels one day and didn’t account for the fact that the popcorn bag would expand. It pressed up against the grate in the microwave while it was cooking and immediately filled the kitchen with smoke! We didn’t know what was going on. The popcorn was burnt to a crisp but luckily there was no fire. The stupid part is that we did it more than once…oops!!

  33. Sure, I burnt the corn. Truth be told, I also enjoy eating the burnt corn just as much as the the regular popped corn. I guess it’s the crunch, the burnt taste, the texture. Perhaps I’m thinking there’s more fiber in the burnt pieces then the regular popped corn. It’s all good. Yum!!!
