Tips for Making Milky Way Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies

  • A 38mm scoop is perfect for these cookies. Each scoop is about 1 tablespoon, and I recommend using 2 tablespoons for each cookie– sandwich the mini Milky Way in between the two.
  • Bake these on parchment or a silicone baking mat, to prevent sticking. Generally speaking, the caramel stays inside the cookie dough really well. But depending on how you roll the dough… if the dough is thinner below the candy bar, some caramel may seep out of the bottom of the cookie. This can get pretty sticky and difficult to remove from the pan once it’s cooled.
  • If you really want to go nuts, add some toffee to the cookie dough. It’s a really yummy flavor and texture pairing with the caramel and nougat of the Milky Way!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ¾ cup white sugar
  • 1 egg + 1 yolk
  • 2¼ cups all-purpose flour, packed
  • ¾ tsp baking soda, dissolved in 1 tbsp water
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 24 mini Milky Ways

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, melt the butter with the brown sugar in the microwave. Let mixture sit for 5 minutes.
  3. Whisk in the egg, the egg yolk, and the vanilla.
  4. Add the flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix just until dough forms.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Scoop 1 tablespoon of dough and place it on an ungreased cookie sheet. Unwrap a Milky Way and place it in the center of the cookie dough. Scoop another tablespoon of dough and press it on top of the candy bar. Gently seal the sides of the cookie with your fingers.
  7. Repeat with remaining dough and candies, placing each cookie about 2 inches apart on the baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 11 minutes. Let cool on the cookie sheet.
