Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe: The Best Ever

Hershey's Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies

Today’s recipe is the one I literally could not stop thinking about β€” the classic chocolate chip cookies recipe straight from my Hershey’s cookbook! Last week I made Hershey’s Soft & Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies because I searched and searched the Drop Cookies section and couldn’t find this one. Turns out it was on the back side of that very page. πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ Classic me! But honestly? Everything worked out, because NOW I get to share both β€” and this classic recipe is absolutely more my cup of tea. Crispy edges, buttery flavor, and plenty of chocolate. Be still my heart!

Why This Is the Best Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe

Can we talk about what makes the ultimate chocolate chip cookies so dreamy? It’s all about the perfect balance of crisp edges and a gooey center. These homemade chocolate chip cookies nail that balance every single time. The buttery flavor comes through beautifully, and there’s just enough tsp salt in the dough to make everything pop. If you’ve ever had soft centers without any crispy edges, you know something is missing β€” and this recipe fixes that! I also love that it gives great results whether you’re one of those beginner bakers or you’ve been making cookie dough since forever. πŸͺ

Choosing Your Chocolate and Key Ingredients

The kind of chocolate you pick totally changes the vibe of your cookies! I used milk chocolate chips β€” specifically Hershey’s Mini Kisses from the chocolate chip section β€” for that oozy, melty gooey center situation you can see in the photos. 😍 But honestly, you could swap in hershey’s semi-sweet chocolate chips or even hershey’s special dark if you’re a chocolate chocolate chip cookies fan who likes things a little more intense. Cups of hershey chips go a long way here, so don’t be shy with them! The hershey company keeps delivering on the latest candy innovations, and every type of chocolate they make works beautifully in this pan recipe. How to Make Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies

In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment (or a large bowl with a hand mixer on medium speed), beat a cup of butter with brown sugar until the butter mixture is light and fluffy. Add tsp vanilla and mix in wet ingredients. In a medium bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients β€” your all-purpose flour, tsp salt, and leavening. Gradually add the flour mixture and mix until just combined. Don’t add too much flour; measure flour carefully so your cups of flour are level. Use a cookie scoop to drop dough balls onto a prepared baking sheet lined with parchment paper, or onto an ungreased cookie sheet. These cookies spread batter quite a bit (they’re spreaders, I warned you!), so give them room. You can even use an x1-inch jelly-roll pan if that’s what you have. Bake until golden brown with those gorgeous crisp edges, then cool on a wire rack or cooling rack. πŸ™Œ

Tips, Tricks, and Storing Your Cookies

A few little bits of advice that make this favorite recipe truly foolproof! Room temperature butter is non-negotiable for the best results β€” cold butter won’t cream properly into that dreamy butter mixture. Once baked, let fresh-baked cookies cool completely before storing leftover cookies in an airtight container. They stay delicious the next day, I promise! For frozen cookies, pop them into a freezer bag and they’ll keep beautifully for months. As a serving of food, these are a fun treat to share β€” perfect for fundraiser attendees or family members who need a little sweet love. πŸ˜‚ Cookies like these are a totally reasonable part of your daily diet (I’m ignoring the daily value label, thank you very much). Drop by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased cookie sheet (mine were closer to 2 tbsp).
