Our Year in Pictures 2016
Whew! I know it's been WAY too long since I've written a weekly re-cap. Things have just been a little nuts with the holidays and the move. But here we are at the very end of 2016, and I wanted to take a moment to re-live some of our highlights from the year and catch up on November and December happenings around here!
So here we are at the beginning of 2016.
Emma started losing teeth, and my sweet babe turned 6 months old!
In February, we had the Daddy-Daughter Valentine's dance and CJ started crawling…
There are a few big gaps of time between Our Week posts in the spring. But if I remember correctly… we were spending a lot of time at the pediatrician's office with sinus infections (aka, the usual) and a little Hand, Foot, and Mouth. These two spent a lot of time quarantined at the apartment together…
The end of May and June brought all the craziness, and we haven't slowed down since.
Starting with the annual family beach trip:
And then a visit from Chris's mom:
After that, we launched right into birthday season! Starting with Emma turning 6 and finishing Kindergarten:
Chris's birthday is when things got REAL crazy.
Because we decided to build a house!
There was the 4th of July. And then that time my baby turned one ????.
From there, we cruised right into our 10th anniversary, my 30th birthday, and the birth of my nephew!
My birthday also brought breaking ground and laying the foundation for the house:
Over the summer, I really started to dig into my photography and did several portrait sessions, including this beautiful bridal:
My brother and I started a food blog where I post non-dessert recipes…
And then came a new school year with a new school, and CHEERLEADING–
And more progress on the house + a visit to the design center:
I started baking for Thanksgiving and Christmas in September. Which means our fall was filled with LOTS of pie. And visits to the house.
Towards the end of September we went on a little overnight trip to DC for the BYU game. It actually ended up being a pretty miserable trip– ending with me vowing to never travel with children ever again. ???? But we got a few cute pics nonetheless.
October brought the biggest change to our family (with the exception of the move): we adopted a dog!! And we are not animal people. So this was a big deal. It was impulsive and crazy, and she made me a little bonkers for a while when we were cooped up in the apartment, but we love our Mackenzie.
Then came all the fun fall stuff… family, state fair food, pumpkins, and Halloween.
And of course, lots and lots and lots of visits to the house.
Chris spent a couple of weekends in areas affected by the hurricane helping with disaster relief efforts in South Carolina and Lumberton, NC.
Halloween..
And more house.
Once we hit November, I perpetually felt like I was losing my mind. Honestly, I wasn't sure that I would survive the move, Thanksgiving, and then Christmas.
As it turns out, I did survive! ????????
And it looked something like this:
I still haven't edited our photos from Christmas day, but we did manage– despite all the craziness– to get some fantastic family photos. Which brings us full circle. Here's what our little family looks like at the end of 2016!
And there you have it!! I hope each and everyone of you had a wonderful holiday season, managed to hang on to your sanity, and have a FABULOUS New Year!
Happy 2017 everyone!
