This week has ben in-FRICKIN-sane. And the worst part is: nothing major happened at all. This was just all mundane, day-to-day happenings that kept us so busy. I think it’s just the typical holiday season craziness beginning, and now that I remember how it goes, I’m kind of dreading it.

Can I take back what I said last week? As it turns out, I’m not ready for the holidays after all. ????

I guess whether I’m ready or not, it’s time to kick my butt into gear and start running at full speed! I’ve been BLESSED (and maybe slightly overwhelmed) with several sponsored posts that I’m juggling right now, Emma’s got field trips and fundraisers and papers to sign coming out her ears, and CJ has decided he’d rather not sleep. And I don’t even know what’s going on in Chris’s life half of the time, bless his heart. Word on the street is we might have a date night tomorrow night– but I’ll believe that when I see it ;).

So. That’s us right now.

And here’s more of us in pictures…

The last day of Spirit Week at school was “Dress as your Favorite Book Character” day. Emma wanted to be Anna. Because we READ Frozen sooooooooooo much. ????*insert sarcasm here*

And then, of course, Halloween hit us. Every year I think I’m going to spare myself the stress by not making a big deal out of Halloween. And every year I end up feeling like such a Halloween Grinch, so I throw myself into gear at the last minute (making it WAY more stressful than it would have been if I had just planned to do something ahead of time) and put together an elaborate trunk theme (for trunk-or-treat), spend hours scouring the internet for costume make-up tips (I’m particularly proud of the mermaid scales on Emma, below), and throw a Halloween party with a spooky menu and apple bobbing…

Even though I wished  I had thought this all out ahead of time, we had a lot of fun and I’m glad I did it all!

My brother and I have been working on our very first recipe video, and we finally completed it! It’s a little rough (mostly on my part– the lighting and weird angle, sorry about that), but we’re learning as we go and hopefully 2016 will be full of a lot of fun videos on Something Swanky TV!

And here’s the video if you’re interested:

I chaperoned a pumpkin patch field trip with Emma’s class. I think we were all doubting my abilities to be a good chaperone with a baby strapped to my chest, but everyone survived ????…

The selfie king and I did a lot of this…

And lastly… we ended the week with a sick day. And it was heart breaking. Emma was supposed to have her Fun Run at school today, and she was SO EXCITED about it! Her teacher texted me mere minutes before it was starting to let me know that she was concerned Emma didn’t feel well and probably shouldn’t be doing the run.

When I got to the office, she dissolved into a puddle of tears, and I just let her cry in my arms for about 10 minutes. I was near tears myself, to be honest. And the worst of it was driving away from the school– we drove right by the Fun Run, and it looked like an absolute party. Emma’s face about broke my heart into a million pieces.

When we got to the doctor, he looked at her Fun Run shirt and said, “So how many laps did you run??”

I know, right?! Dying over here.

So I promised her a “fun” sick day. We went and got special PJs and slippers, bought the new Inside Out movie, and cozied up on the couch.

And CJ was cute. As per the usual.

What I’m Loving

I’ve had these skirts for a YEAR now, and Emma and I are just finally able to wear them (hers was too big a year ago and mine was a little too small– remember I was pregnant!).

I love, love LOVE them. And I’m so proud of my sweet friend Meg and her line of comfy, stylish clothes (for both mommy and daughter) Color Me Apparel. There are about a million other things on her site that I want to buy (helloooooo Santa!).

I know I already brought up The Pioneer Woman’s new line of kitchenware a few weeks ago, but I just have to mention it again: SO CUTE. I went and bought a few new pieces for a photoshoot, and I’m dying over them. I know this isn’t a great angle, but it’s what I’ve got (sorry!):

I also bought a few other nice photog prop pieces at the expense of one of my clients (nice) that I’m preeeeeeetty excited about:

And lastly, I’ve got a couple of good reads I’ve been loving. At Time Out for Women last week, I was reminded of an LDS author I’ve been meaning to read, Josi Kilpack. She wrote a 12-book series of “culinary mysteries.” All her cover art has dessert on it! So I’ve been dying to check them out. But when I went to order the books, a couple of regency-era proper-romance books she’s written caught my eye and I decided to read those first:

If you like a nice and easy Jane Austen read, I think you’ll like those!

And now I’m off to the crazy life again. Have a great week!
