Our MONTH in Pictures + What I’m Loving
You guys! It's been over a month since my last Week in Photos post. Seriously. This time of year just gets crazy, and somehow I let all those weeks slip by without documenting anything that's been going on with us.
Needless to say… I've got a LOT of photos stored up for this post 🙂
Ready?
I guess I left off right around the time we left for our annual family beach trip.
We spent a week on the Carolina coast in a gorgeous beach house with the entire fam. We ate too much, played hard, and got lots of sun. It's always our favorite week of the year.
The guys spent all week, day and night, catching fish. And we ended the week with a nice, big fish fry!
While we were there, we bought donuts from this cute little shack almost every day. SO GOOD. If you ever visit Emerald Isle, NC, you MUST try Flip Flops Donut Shop!
I've crammed in quite a few photo sessions in the past month or so, trying to build up my portrait photography. I can't remember what I've already shared with you (so forgive me if there are repeats here), but these are a few of my favorites:
So far newborns and seniors are my favorites, which is funny since they're both at such opposite ends of the spectrum. But I think I feel like I get to be a little more artsy and dramatic with both of those. It's easier to do fun things with them because there's only one subject in the photos, and it seems like both newborns and high school seniors are both in a pretty cute stage in life looks-wise.
Which certainly makes things easier ????.
Chris's mom came for a visit not long after beach week, and the kids had a blast with her as always!
Emma had a birthday 🙂
And then school ended.
Now here we are, on the first day of Summer Vacation, and I'm wondering how we are going to survive the 76 days until school starts again on August 25.
But who's counting? ????
What I'm Loving
I've always enjoyed reading (mostly teenage sci-fi and Austen), but lately I've been reading like a ravenous crazy person. They just opened a new regional library nearby, and I think seeing all the untouched, sparkling, brand-spanking new books has made me feel more amenable to checking them out from the library instead of purchasing them on my Kindle.
Well, that and the new book budget that has been recently reinforced in our household ????.
My favorite genre is inspirational romance. It's okay, go ahead and laugh if you want to. I know it's pretty cheesy. But when you're done giggling, you should really check out some of my favorites. I've been gobbling them up!
I loved all these books by Karen Witemeyer:
And this Mercy Falls series by Colleen Cobble:
I just checked out a new series by Colleen Cobble today that I'm pretty excited about. Her books all include a murder mystery as well as a romance, so they are a lot of fun to read.
I'm loving these Pizzelles I found at Aldi. They're a good little low-cal treat when you're trying to be good, but want something carby/sugary/crunchy/not tiny. In the top picture, I added some chocolate Jiff Whipped PB. ????
Ok… there's probably a lot more I'm missing. But this is the gist of what we're into these days. Hopefully I'll get back into a weekly rhythm with these posts, but Birthday season in the Swank house is upon us… so I'm not holding my breath. ???? Still. I'll be back at some point with more pictures and more stuff to love. Promise!
Until then… enjoy the sweets 🙂
Happy week!
