Favorite Vanilla Cupcakes

These are so good, I could easily eat them without any frosting at all! You can sub vanilla extract for the vanilla paste, but I warn you, it won’t be the same experience! If you absolutely cannot get your hands on vanilla paste, make your own by scraping out a vanilla bean and mixing it with 2 teaspoons of corn syrup.

Favorite Vanilla Cupcakes


  • 1½ sticks unsalted butter
  • 1¾ cups sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla paste
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 2½ cups flour
  • 1¼ cups milk


  1. Using a stand mixer, beat the butter until mostly smooth.
  2. Add sugar and mix together until creamy.
  3. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well in between each addition. Add vanilla paste and salt, mix well.
  4. Gradually add flour, milk, and baking powder until batter forms, but do not over mix.
  5. Divide evenly among 24 cupcake liners. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes, or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.
