A Week in Photos

So, this is new. And I think it’s going to be a lot of fun…

After I published this FAQ post a couple of weeks ago and told you why I turned the comments off my blog, I received a lot of really positive feedback and encouragement. So many of you contacted me and gave me a virtual hug and pat on the back for taking some of my time away from the blog (in a big way) so I could give it to my family.

And it occurred to me that maybe I’ve been going about things here on the blog all wrong. I’ve been trying to remove a lot of my personal touches from Something Swanky in order to just get the bare minimum done around here and stay afloat as a mom. But receiving so much encouragement from you sweet readers over the past couple of weeks reminded me that you guys are human too! And you guys are parents, trying to keep your heads above water just like me. And that you aren’t recipe-reading machines who don’t understand what I’m going through.

So I thought… why not make things a little more personal around here instead and show you what my week has looked like behind the camera?

I mean, it’s basically going to be a lot of pictures of my kids and food. Because that’s pretty much my life. But I’m guessing you get that. Right?

Plus, this is a great way for me to remember to turn the camera around and capture moments of real life– something I’ve really felt more of a push to do since CJ was born.

So without further ado…. here’s a glimpse into our week:

This kid camped out in the kitchen with me a ton! He always wants to have my face in sight, and is happy to just hang out in his bouncer as long as I’m near and talking to him.

It was Crazy Hat Day at school.

Food styling tip: I always wear gloves when I’m handling fudge or chocolate– anything that might show a fingerprint. I absolutely hate seeing a beautiful photograph of food with a clear, crisp fingerprint front and center. Gross.

Also, this fudge: ????. On point. Recipe coming soon!

I got stuck nursing while cookies were in the oven and burned them to a crisp. I sat in that rocking chair nursing my fussy baby for 20 minutes, just cringing and listening to the oven go *beeeeeeeeeeep*  *beeeeeeeeeeep*  *beeeeeeeeeeep*  *beeeeeeeeeeep* *beeeeeeeeeeep*.

Fortunately, I had enough dough to make another batch. That recipe is coming soon too!

This picture cracks me up. It’s pretty typical…

Lastly… I discovered that my hair is finally long enough to put in a top knot. And I’m thinking I may never wash my hair again. (Kidding! Sort of…)

Happy Fall you guys! I can’t wait to take pictures of pumpkins and sweet littles in Halloween costumes :)

See ya tomorrow with more dessert!
