Sweet Treats Thursday

Welcome back to Sweet Treats Thursday!
I’ve got a few quick things I want to talk about before we get to the party today…
(always, right?)
1) I’ve got a personal favor to ask. If you’re interested, scroll to the bottom of the post after linking up!
2) Congrats to Krista Wood for winning the Silpat Giveaway!!
3) I’m thinking about opening up Sweet Treats Thursday to everyone– crafts, non-sweet recipes, tutorials, etc… what are your thoughts? If I do, should I create two separate link ups– one for sweets, one for everything else? Or just combine it all? Change the name of the party?
4) Last of all, and best of all:

Manage your shopping list and search for recipes from across the web at ZipList.com
There’s a brand new feature at Something Swanky! I’ve partnered with ZipList to bring you the easiest way to save your favorite recipes and create shopping lists on the web!
Have you noticed the Save Recipe button I’ve added to my posts? Just click that button to save it to your ZipList recipe box along with recipes from their other fabulous partners (like Cookies and Cups, Tidy Mom, Skinny Taste, Alli-n-Son, and so many more)!

All of the recipes you save will be stored in one place, and you can easily generate a shopping list from those recipes with one simple click!
My favorite feature? The app for your smartphone or tablet. I love it!
I save my recipes, make my shopping list, and it’s all with me at the store on my phone!
Plus– the app is free! Just search for “ziplist” in your app store.

I’m so excited for all of you to be able to use this feature on Something Swanky!
Check it out on my new nav bar!
Time to party!!
Last week’s Click Pick: S’mores Pizza by French Press
My Picks:

1. Chocolate Caramel Crunch Cake by Michelle’s Tasty Creations
2. Strawberries and Cream Cake by Six Sisters Stuff
3. Cheesecake S’mores Danish by Inside BruCrew Life
You guys are awesome!! Party on!

Ok, now for that personal favor I mentioned…
One of my little brothers is a Senior in high school.
He’s dealt with learning challenges his entire life– ADD, OCD, etc.
School hasn’t been easy for him. Life hasn’t been easy for him.
But he’s found a way to function– and even excel in many areas of his life, including academics– by using music therapy.
For his senior project, he made a video about the merits of using music therapy as a way to cope with learning disabilities. I think he did a great job, and I’m just asking that you take a moment to view it!
He needs this video to get lots of hits for his project– so take a second to check it out!
Thanks a million!!!

  1. You are the bomb diggety for sharing my s’mores danish!!! Thank you so much for the love!!!

I like having a party that has more things. It helps me not miss out on so many fun other than food posts. And I don’t think you would have to change the name that much. The other link ups are bound to be “sweet” as in awesome!!!

So is ziplist compatible with blogger? Because I signed up for a few months ago and then wasn’t sure what to do next. Surprise surprise:-)

    Thanks for hosting!!!

    • I haven’t had any problems with it so far! You just click on the save button… I don’t think blogger really makes a difference. Have you had any problems?

    • LOL! I just set up an account…I wasn’t sure what to do next. But honestly does that surprise you any? We both know how computer challenged I am!

  2. So glad your brother found music to brighten his days and strengthen his spirits! Love the video!

  3. Love your party, love your blog! So much yummy, haha:)

  4. Thanks so much for hosting another party
If you ask me – I prefer 2 link ups – one for sweets and one for everything else.

There is nothing like music to brighten even the darkest day :)

  5. Thanks for hosting such a delicious party! Today I am sharing my Caramel Apple Cinnamon Rolls! Have a GREAT week! —Sheryl—

  6. I checked out ziplist before recipage and it said it wasn’t compatible at the time with blogger. Do you have to transfer each recipe individually into ziplist? I don’t think I would look forward to doing that again!!

Thanks for hosting. I say more at the party the merrier!

    • They did everything for me. I had to go back in and manually add the Save Recipe button– but only because I wanted to since all of my posts aren’t recipes. If you don’t ask to do that, they’ll give you a code for your HTML that will automatically be inserted in all of your recipes.

  7. Thank you for hosting and I love ziplist, it makes everything so handy.

  8. I love the idea of a desserts only party. I just never have any desserts.:( So, I would love to be able to put other things up, but in a separate list, I think.:)

  9. Thanks for hosting!! I’m your newest follower:) I think it’s up to you~ if you want two categories or not, but I tend to have many non-dessert posts too. Come say hello sometime at http://stellabskitchen.blogspot.com

  10. Thank you so much for hosting!!!

  11. Thanks for hosting Ashton, as always. As long as you keep doing this fabulous party, I’m good with it being anything! :)

Now I’m curious about ziplist. I’ll add that to my list of things to do. Ha!

I watched the video…and I shared it on my personal FB, hope that’s okay? :)

  12. I love that you have a desserts-only party; I think that’s what makes it unique.
Your brother did an amazing job on the video!

  13. Love all the desserts here! So fun! Thanks for hosting!!

I’ve shared your video on my FB and Google+ page.

Thanks and have a great weekend!

  14. You are the BEST!! Thanks for the feature, the party, and all the extras! Headed out the door for school carpool – will watch the video when I return. My son suffers with adhd and several other learning issues – music is amazing:)

  15. This video is great, but it posts the whole blog when I try to share it on my Facebook page. Is it someplace where I can share just the video? My daughter is a psychologist and a musician and music has always been her “safe place” when she needed it.

    • Never mind … finally took an extra minute and found the link on the actual video. It is now on my Facebook page. Blessings to your brother. I am so glad he found music.

    • This is Cooper, thanks for watching the video and for sharing it!! So many people don’t know about expressive art therapy, I hope the story of Jesse will illustrate to many people the power of the arts.

  16. Thank you for sharing this video!!

  17. Thanks for the giveaway!! I’m super excited to use my Silpat!

  18. I think you should open it up to at least non-sweets. I have lots of non-sweet recipes that I can’t share here! Sad. Thanks for hosting!

  19. Thanks for sharing the video. Music has such extreme powers, and I’m glad your brother was able to benefit from it. I have shared this on my FB page!

  20. Hi Ashton! Here to link up Birthday {Pan}Cake!!!

  21. Thanks so much for hosting Ashton :) Have a wonderful weekend!

  22. Thank you so much for hosting, I have shared the link on my personal Facebook page.
    Have a great weekend.

  23. I linked up for the first time and am now headed to pin some recipes! I love the video and shared it. I have two sons with ADHD and one of them also has an anxiety disorder. I love anything that raises awareness that these kids often just need an outlet. The video was very professional!

    • This is Cooper, i’m so glad you liked the video!! I hope your sons find help through the arts like the boy in the video did. If you could do me a huge favor and email, facebook, etc. the link to the video to everyone, that would be absolutely amazing. THANK YOU!! :) youtube.com/watch?v=LMcr_i_oYNA

  24. My preference would be to keep the sweet treats party and add an additional for everything else.

  25. I watched the video and it was great! What a shame that some schools are doing away with many of the arts. Everyone learns differently and this video poignantly points this out. What a wonderful program, especially for those with difficulties learning the traditional way.
Ashton, I think it would be fine if your linky party was all-inclusive, but if that’s the case I would change the name to make it clear that the party is not just for desserts.
    Thanks for hosting the party!

  26. Very good video…great program. I hope your brother gets a good grade on his project!
    Thanks for sharing

  27. Thanks so much for featuring my Chocolate Caramel Crunch Cake! You made my day. It is super delish and easy to make :) Thanks for hosting another great link party. Have a fabulous week.

  28. Great job Cooper! That is an amazing video. I will definitly be sharing it with all of my facebook and twitter followers!
Ashton thanks for hosting another great party!

  29. Clicked on the video, and good luck to your brother! Way to shine a light on that subject! Thanks for hosting the party, too!

  30. i’ve linked up my orange cranberries scones, thks for hosting :)

  31. Ashton,

    Thank you for hosting!

    I appreciate it,

Sweet Treats Thursday

Hi all! Glad you made it to Sweet Treats Thursday!
It has been a craaaaazy week here. And I am really ready to see what you brought for dessert!
But, first, I have kind of a sad announcement to make.
Those of you who were following my Naptime Stumble Posts probably saw this coming about 10 miles away– I will be discontinuing my very pathetic attempt to unravel the mysteries of Stumble.
So sorry to drop that project! But I’ve just had too much going on blog-wise to add that head-scratcher to the mix. If anyone else decides to figure it out, let me know! :)
Ok, now on to the good stuff.
I’ve decided to add an additional feature to the party each week– a “Click Pick.”
I’m sure you’re all already familiar with this linky term.
A Click Pick is the linkup with the most views,
and I’ll feature the top one each week based solely on how YOU click!
So without further ado….
Last week’s click pick was:
The Best Frosting the Pioneer Woman’s Ever Had linked up by The Traveling Spoon.
My pick features this week:
Ooey Gooey Homemade Snickers Bars by Flour and Friends:
I always think “gooey-ness” is so frustrating as a photographer, but it’s got to be my absolute favorite thing as a viewer.  It’s like you can taste it…
Valentine M&M Samoa Blondies by Six Sister’s Stuff:
(these have been following me EVERYWHERE this week!)
Oreo Crust Mix {Heart Munch} by Crazy for Crust (who else??):
This changed my life… and I’m being totally serious.
No. Seriously.
You can find the old featured button on my buttons page!
Sorry I still haven’t updated those to my new look yet :/
Party time! Play nice, please:
2. Try to stumble and pin some of your fellow linkers!
3. Hire me to re-design your blog. You must do this to link up.
…ha. Just kidding :)
Party on!

Please visit my Party Page for a more complete index of Link Parties.
If you host a regular link party, please add it to my Party Page!
If you enjoyed this post, please consider leaving a comment or subscribing to the RSS feed to have future articles delivered to your feed reader.

  1. I have shared High Tea Lemon Cookies. Thank you for hosting!

  2. Whew, already hired ya! As for stumble, I have tried everything, yet I have no idea how to get “stumbled” consistently. I seem to have more viewers from pinterest though…
Anyways, have a great week, thanks for hosting!

    • I know. That’s kind of what pushed me over the edge into finally just giving up worrying about stumble– Pinterest seems to be better quality, more consistent traffic. And I like using it WAY better anyway!

  3. Omg!!! You featured me! :) so ecstatic right now I just text my Mom, who is also a blogger! You just made my day, thank you so much!!! Thanks for hosting these amazing parties every week..ugh you are the best!!!

  4. Thanks for hosting! I never tried stumble – glad I didn’t!!

  5. I was so thrilled to see my frosting on your blog – it fits in so well with the color scheme ;) Thanks for featuring it!

  6. Gosh all those other features look so good. Thank you so much for featuring my Oreo Crust Mix. I’m glad it changed your life. It changed mine too. :)

  7. Those blondies have been following me all week too…must be a sign I need more blondies in my life:-) As for stumble…I still can’t figure it out. I like pinterest way better!!!! Thanks for the fun party!!!

  8. Hi Ashton
I’m sharing today my “Cherry Coffee Cake with crumb topping”
Thank you for sharing this wonderful party, and hope you have a great weekend

  9. Today I’m linking up my Portobello Pizzas and Banana Bread Muffins. Drop by Fusion Fridays at jennifercooks.com and link up your goodies! Thanks so much for hosting!

  10. Thank you for hosting!

  11. Thanks so much for hosting :)

  12. Thanks for hosting !:)

  13. All your features look mouthwatering…I can go for one or two or three of those homemade Snickers bars right now.

Thank you so much for hosting. I am sharing my Chocolate Hazelnut Torte with you today….hope you enjoy it.

  14. Ashton, you are so clever! I love the photos of the football fudge! Gorgeous! Thanks for the party. Not Your Ordinary Agent
    Not Your Ordinary Recipes

  15. Thanks for hosting the party! I wasn’t able to find your button page though, so sorry I was not able to add your button. I did add a link to the post though :)

Sweet Treats Thursday

Happy Sweet Treats Thursday, everyone!
I’m hoping you’ve noticed the design changes around here.
And I’m hoping you like them.
{And I’m kind of hoping you’re not looking too closely yet– still a work in progress…}
After months and months of changing my blog design over, and over, and over again– I’ve finally come to the realization that I love blog design.
I’m a slow learner.
So I closed my eyes,  took a deep breath, and opened a Blog Design Etsy shop! I’m pretty excited about it. I’ve been dying to tell you– but I wanted to try and get a new design on this blog first.
I only half-way succeeded in waiting. My design still isn’t quite done.
But I’ve never really been good with secrets for very long.
And I’m doing more than designs–
I’m going to be offering blog start-up and blog clean-up consultations!
No worries! I’ll still be here, just the same– maybe just a little bit more distracted than usual.
You may notice a little less text– which I doubt you’ll mind ;)
Anyway, stop by the shop and check it out!
I’m really excited to share it with you :)
And I’d love to sponsor a few giveaways, so let me know if you’re interested.
Let’s move on to desserts, shall we?
Features from last week’s party:
Chocolate Fudge with Nutter Butter Crust from Crazy For Crust
Turtle Stuffed Peanut Butter Cookies from Mrs. Fox’s Sweets
Deep Dish Snickerdoodle Cups from The Domestic Rebel

Great job ladies! I’m working on a new featured button,
but feel free to grab the old one from the “buttons” tab at the bottom of my sidebar!
Let’s go over some rules:
1. SWEET TREATS ONLY! (unfortunately, this does not include: shrimp, pasta,  taco seasoning, or that portable art studio from last week. Ahem.)
2. Link to specific posts, not your main page.
3. Share the love! Pin and stumble other posts!

Please visit my Party Page for a more complete index of Link Parties.
If you host a regular link party, please add it to my Party Page!
If you enjoyed this post, please consider leaving a comment or subscribing to the RSS feed to have future articles delivered to your feed reader.

  4. The new blog design is super cute!!! I definitely want you to redo my blog…after my button fiasco I have no desire to get any closer to html coding:-) I will email you and we can chat!!! Love the features this week. Thank you for hosting!!!

  5. @Aimee THanks for being the first to give me a chance!! :)

  6. @Jocelyn Can’t wait!! And your button looks great :) (although I can understand being done with HTML, lol)

  7. Love the new design, like I mean I love it so much I’ll be emailing you soon…

Thanks for featuring my fudge with a crust! Made me smile. :)

And I love your disclaimer on the “desserts only” part…totally awesome. :)

  8. Thanks for hosting, and congrats on your new shop!

  9. Congrats on the new shop! I hope it goes really well for you! I would be interested in helping you out with a giveaway…let me know what you’re thinking!

  10. Congratulations on launching your new Etsy shop–I just may be your first customer :)
And thank you millions for featuring my Deep Dish Snickerdoodle Cups! You’re the sweetest. xo.

  11. Awww….I can’t link up shrimp? What a bummer…allergic to it anyway…lol! Thanks for hosting! Good luck on your new adventure! Have a sweet week!

  12. Love the new design. Awesome you set up your own shop!! Thanks for hosting!

  13. Looks pretty! Just sent you an email about maybe doing some design work for me.

  14. Everything looks so good!! yum, so glad I found this!

Sweet Treats Thursday

Have I ever told you that I say ‘Dude’ a lot?
I always allow myself to write my posts with the word “dude” throughout– just so it sounds more natural. And then I have to go back and delete them all out of the post.
Because if I didn’t… I think I’d sound ridiculous.
I absolutely, under no circumstances fall into any sort of demographic that can (stereotypically) use the word “dude” and sound cool.
Anyway. That was an extremely long tangent.
Especially when all I really wanted to say was:
Dude. I am tired.
I hosted a cookie swap/pampered chef party tonight and I am out of any more holiday energy.
Seriously. That was the last of it, I’m sure.
Ok. Here are the features this week :)
The links were all so fabulous and festive last week I could hardly choose!
But I did. And here they are:
Reindeer Noses to-go by Munchkin Munchies. I LOVE-LOVE-LOVE cookies in a jar. LOVE.

Oatmeal Milky Way Brownie Bars by The Sweet Swiper. Are you kidding me?
Red Velvet Peppermint Crinkle Cookies by Cookin’ Cowgirl. I think these are just so perfectly festive.
And Reese’s Nutter Butter Cookies by Shugary Sweets. Ah-mazing!!
These posts are all going to be pinned and stumbled tomorrow morning (after a full night of sleep)!
1. Link up as many DESSERTS as you want (specific post, not main page).
2. Play nice- go pin and stumbler some other linkers.
3. Button-grabbing is good.

If you enjoyed this post, please consider leaving a comment or subscribing to the RSS feed to have future articles delivered to your feed reader.

  1. Thanks so much for featuring my Oatmeal Milky Way Brownie Bars…..they were a huge hit! I’ve brought a bunch of stuff this week…..it’s been a busy week in my kitchen!

  2. Hey Dude thanks for the feature. I’m way too old to say dude, yet I do. So uncool. Anyways, thanks for hosting.

  3. @Aimee lol. I really should NOT being saying dude either :) I try to hold it back most of the time. Also– I fixed you link in the feature, I guess I forgot to link it back to you when I posted last night! Sorry!

  4. Cute features! Thanks for hosting! Ginny @ Cooking With Chopin, Living With Elmo

  5. This made me giggle because I shouldn’t say Dude either…but I do:-) Thank you for sharing all those yummy treats and for the link up!!!

  6. Ashton, Adorable features! I have shared Gingerbread Men cookies and 14-Karat Cake. Thank you for hosting!

Sweet Treats Thursday

Happy Thursday!!
It feels like it’s been a long time since we’ve seen each other. Has it been a long week for anyone else? I think there may be a LOT of long weeks between now and Christmas–
that’s just part of the deal, right?
I hope you’re all eating many, many Holiday cookies to keep up your strength ;)
Ok. I promised you lots of features this week, so here we go!
Apple Cider Coffee Cake by Pressed Down, Shaken Together. I LOVE Apple Cider dessert recipes– nothing says Fall like Apple Cider!
Snickerdoodle Bread by Crumbs and Chaos. When she compared this bread to Panera’s Cinnamon Crunch Bagel, I knew I’d have to try this…
Gingersnap Pumpkin Spice Sandwich Cookies by Simply Southern Baking. I’m not actually much of a gingersnaps kind of girl, but I do love any kind of cookie sandwich dipped in chocolate. And I have a VERY soft spot for any recipe that involves any type of Hershey Kiss. So I’m sold.
Candy Overload Cookies by Crazy For Crust. Duh. What’s not to love here?
Peanut Butter Banana Cookies, by Raia’s Recipes. I’ve become more and more interested in finding some great food sensitivity desserts lately, and these cookies look like a great place to start. I’ve heard that bananas as a substitute for eggs make really excellent cookies, so I can’t wait to try these!
Carmelitas, by Somewhere in the Middle. I’m not familiar with the name of this recipe, and my eyes very nearly passed over them, but I’m so glad I checked them out! These have caramel (obviously), oats, chocolate chips, and Heath Bits. Heath Bits, ya’ll!!!

These recipes will all be pinned and stumbled later tonight! Feel free to grab a button if you were featured!

You know the rules:

1. Only desserts, please.
2. Link to a specific post.
3. And please pin and stumble your way through lots of other link ups!
4. Grab a button!

If you enjoyed this post, please consider leaving a comment or subscribing to the RSS feed to have future articles delivered to your feed reader.

  1. Hey girl, thanks for hosting!! Going to pop over on some treats linked up now!

  2. Your dessert link up is always one of my favorites! Thank you for the time you put into to it to make it such a success! Now I am off to find some yumminess!!!

  3. Ashton, I have shared Apple Coffee Cake and Chocolate Crinkle Cookies. Thank you for hosting!

  4. Thanks for the feature! :) Yes it has been a LONG week {month} here. I’m looking forward to a few weeks from now when I can actually make and eat some holiday cookies!

  5. Thanks for the feature!
You’re right, I think we’re in for a lot of long weeks ahead.
Going to check out all the yumminess linked up now!

  6. Thanks for hosting! Looking forward to checking out all these delicious goodies! :) This week I shared my Chocolate Gingerbread Cookies. Perfect for holiday baking!

  7. Love the collection of all these hard to resist treats and goodies. Thank you so much for hosting.

I am sharing my Plum Crumb Cake

Sweet Treats Thursday & Boggiversary/Followers Giveaway

I’ve got a lot to talk about today, so just hang in there with me– I’ll get to features, I promise!
The first order of business is a huge, gigantic, LOUD shout out to Three Little Birds Designs Etsy shop for my brand new blog design! I am in love with it! And I swear this is the last time I’m going to change all of my buttons (and they are WAY better than any of the ones I ever designed myself!)– so make sure to check out my {buttons} page and grab the new and improved ones :)
Next: today’s a special Sweet Treats & Giveaway, because this October has been a special month for Something Swanky! This month marks the one year-ish mark of Something Swanky and the 500+ followers benchmark!
One year-ish? Yeah. That’s what I’m calling it. Because how do you decide when your bloggiversary really is? Do you go by the date of your first post? Or by when you started posting regularly? Or when you started to actually post good posts with decent pictures?
Technically I’ve been blogging Something Swanky for about 3 years– but you wouldn’t be able to tell. I’ve erased a lot of the evidence. It was necessary.
I’ve learned so much about blogging in this past year, and it’s become something I’m really passionate about. I LOVE everything about the blogging world– the camaraderie with other bloggers, the opportunity to improve my writing and photography, and even the learning how to play around with HTML codes and dabbling in design.
And I have all of you to THANK for all of those things. You’ve all taught me so much and have been so supportive through your comments, emails, guest posts, and countless other ways. It’s been a fun year.
And I feel like we’re friends.
And friends give gifts. Am I right?
As a small token of my thanks, I’m giving away my very, very, VERY favorite ingredient of all time:
Vanilla Bean Paste! This stuff will change your life (if it hasn’t already)! Just use it in place of vanilla extract, and it will take your dessert to a whole new level of delicious. I promise.
Entry for the giveaway is super simple: just leave me a comment. Any comment.
That’s it! One entry per person– and all I want is for you to say hi :)
Alright, that’s enough of my ramblings! Let’s get to the party…
Features from last week:
You may not know this, but I am quite the cake mix cookie advocate. I {heart} them. And I LOOOOVE chocolate crinkle cookies, so these Chocolate Cake Batter Cookies from The REAL Housewives of Riverton really spoke to me last week :)
Carolynn’s Recipe Box is back in the features this week! I think these Apple Fritters look absolutely mouth-watering!
Hot Fudge Cakes are another weak spot of mine (imagine that– another dessert I can’t resist)! And Eat Cake For Dinner has a crock pot recipe for Hot Fudge Cake!!!
Yum! If you were featured, feel free to grab a button from my {Buttons} page (up top)!
I’m excited to see what you all brought this week! Let’s do a quick re-cap of the rules, because I’ve been seeing lots of savory casseroles, soups, and meat dishes linked up lately! And while they do look delicious, this blog is all about the sugar rush. SO….

1. SWEETS ONLY, please!
2. Please follow Something Swanky through GFC. Thanks much!
3. Click around, visit other blogs, and leave comments!

…and I’d love for you to grab a button if you’d like! Both the Something Swanky and the Sweet Treats Thursday buttons are on my sidebar!

{Giveaway will end on Sunday night 10/9 at 9:00pm. One winner will be chosen at random.}

Ok, let’s get to partying!

If you enjoyed this post, please consider leaving a comment or subscribing to the RSS feed to have future articles delivered to your feed reader.

  22. @Melissa And PS, I’m a new follower! :) Awesome blog!

  23. I enjoy your blog, and your parties, And where can I find vanilla bean paste? That sounds like my kind of ingredient. I love me a strong vanilla, and I’ve contemplated making my own, just because I wanted it stronger… but I’ve never gotten around to it. Thanks for your great ideas!

  24. Thanks for hosting, congrats, and “Hi!” :)

  25. The hot fudge cake looks amazing! Good features this week :)

  26. Love the pics of your treats! I was going to ask you about vanilla bean paste. Do you use it like extract? I’ve never used it in my baking and candy making. Thanks for the chance to win a bottle! I’d love to try it!!!(Well… with your guidance on HOW to use it!) -Deena

  27. @Ani It can be a little tricky to find– you can definitely buy it online, like at Amazon. I usually find it in cake/candy/culinary specialty stores. Online is your best bet though if you don’t have a little shop like that around anywhere! It’s so worth it. I was totally prepared to have to buy it online when we moved to VA, but I actually found a store here that sells it!!

  28. @Dee Yep! You use it just like you would extract– it just brings out the vanilla bean flavor so much more. I even love using it to make homemade vanilla bean ice cream. Seriously– it’s my favorite ingredient! I always have to pace myself so I don’t use it all up in just a few days!!

  29. Oh la la!! I’ve only heard of the wonderment that is vanilla bean paste! Thanks for the giveaway! http://www.screamingpenny.net -Manda!

  30. I’ve been wanting to try vanilla bean paste for so long! I can’t afford it right now, seeing as how I’m a broke college kid, haha. I’m gonna defy the odds and open a cupcake shop after graduation. Your blog is a great inspiration!

  31. Debi Cupl-Hook

  32. um, I really hope that I win. because every time I see a recipe calling for vanilla bean anything, I sigh and wish i had some paste. thanks for the giveaway!

  33. Oooh! I would love to try some vanilla bean paste! :)

  34. You have got to try that hot fudge cake – it was so yummy! Congrats on 500 plus followers! I would love to win some vanilla bean paste!

  35. one of my fave quotes about diff’rent strokes for diff’rent folks is “that’s why God made chocolate and vanilla” – me? i prefer chocolate. but you need some vanilla in life too. would love to try this fab paste. thanks for the fun post and the blog is lookin’ super sassy! kudos on the anniv!

  36. Just linked up Toffee Pound Cake. Vanilla bean paste is awesome, especially when you’re making pastry cream or a vanilla cake or vanilla ice cream, anywhere that you can see the flecks of vanilla bean.

  37. I thoroughly enjoy your site! I just started a blog and I hope its beautiful like this one! Keep up the good work!

  38. I use so much vanilla in cooking that I have started to make my own.

    jessicarwarfield at gmail dot com

  39. I would love to try some vanilla bean paste! Thanks as usual for hosting.

  40. Congratulations on your milestones. I would love to try some vanilla bean paste. I used vanilla extract, vanilla powder and the bean itself but never tried the paste. Sounds intense and delicious. :) Happy Friday and thanks for hosting Sweet Treats Thursday.

Sweet Treats Thursday

Welcome back to another dessert filled Sweet Treats Thursday!

Can I just tell you that all the desserts I’ve been seeing on your blogs this week are looking especially incredible? I’ve been doing a juice fast, and today is day 7. And can I tell you what I’ve learned from this experience? I love desserts.

That’s what this juice fast has made me realize– more than anything else. I. LOVE. DESSERTS. Yes, when I see bread and pizza and rotisserie chicken on the TV– well, I’ve been drooling a little. But when I’ve been perusing through your blogs, looking at all your desserts… W-O-W.

My only outlet has been pintrest. Maybe you’ve noticed that I’ve been a pintrest maniac this week trying to quench an insatiable sweet tooth! I even created an entire board completely dedicated to S’mores recipes! {mmmm, I love my Smores!}

So, what I’m getting at: just know that I’ll be looking at all of your link ups this week with a special twinkle in my eye (aka, dessert deprivation). And I’ll be having a visual smorgasbord! So be kind, and show me lots and lots of dessert :)

Oh- and follow me on Pintrest! I’m a great pinner :)

Ok, ready for the features??

The Farm Girl Recipes linked up these incredible looking Peanut Butter Cookie n’ Brownie Bars. Can you believe this picture? I can’t stop looking at it…

And here’s something different: Oreo Stuffed Marshmallows on a Stick from Dip It In Chocolate. I know, I had to read that a few times too. But she really did stuff Oreo inside of a marshmallow!! Dipping it in chocolate was really the obvious next step…

And let’s wrap things up with Lemon Drop’s Butterscotch Bars! I am such a sucker for any kind of a coconut/chocolate/brown-sugar-gooey type bar like this. Don’t expect anyone else to get a taste if I’m around. Seriously…

If you were featured grab a button from the page up top (and thanks for being awesome)! Happy linking, folks!
And please don’t forget to follow me if Something Swanky makes you drool a little bit :) Thank you!

1. Dessert-related posts only– you can link up photos, recipes, crafts that look like treats, whatever! As long as it’s in the sweet treats family.

2. Link back to a specific post, not your main page.

3. Please grab a button and spread the word!!

I link up at these wonderful Link Parties each week.
Host a Link Party? Add it to this page and I’ll be there!
These parties require an in-post Link Back to participate: Sugar and Spice, Tidy Mom
If you enjoyed this post, please consider leaving a comment or subscribing to the RSS feed to have future articles delivered to your feed reader.

Sweet Treats Thursday

Wow! What a busy week it’s been! We’ve been doing A LOT of driving and unpacking this week! And not a ton of blogging, unfortunately :( So here are a few Something Swanky blog-type things I wanted to tell you about before the party starts:

*You may have noticed the new blog design. And that means— new buttons! I know there were a few problems with the old buttons that made them kind of annoying, so I’ve redesigned these buttons with you in mind! They’re a better size for your sidebar and there’s no ugly white border around an irregular shape. So go ahead, take one! They’re yours!! Find them on the {Grab Some Buttons Page} listed at the top of the page.

*Check out the {Be Featured} tab (on the right sidebar). I’m looking for opportunities to feature YOU!

*If you host a link party, PLEASE feel free to add it to my {I ♥ To Link} page (find it along the top of this page). If you just put it in the comments, there’s a good chance I’ll put it on my mental “to do” list and then lose the list– consider yourself warned :)

*Last, but not least: I didn’t get my post up yesterday until late and night, and I really want you all to see the recipe Eat Cake For Dinner submitted for my Bake Sale! So check it out here!

Ok, I think that’s it! Let’s see some features, shall we?

The moment I saw these Apple Nachos linked up last week, I knew I’d be sharing them with you this week! I think they’re brilliant :) From Shugary Sweets:

Not long ago, I featured some DIY candy bars– LOVE those. Last week, Making Memories linked up these homemade Milky Ways:

This is another treat that immediately caught my eye at last week’s party. Can you say DELICIOUS?? Thanks to The Gunny Sack for linking up this yummy looking Chocolate Chip Cookie and Ice Cream Cake:

If you were featured, feel free to grab a featured button from the {Grab Some Buttons} page up top!

1. Dessert-related posts only– you can link up photos, recipes, crafts that look like treats, whatever! As long as it’s in the sweet treats family.

2. Link back to a specific post, not your main page.

3. Please grab a button and spread the word!!

If you enjoyed this post, please consider leaving a comment or subscribing to the RSS feed to have future articles delivered to your feed reader.

  1. Thanks for the feature! The apple nachos were delish and something I will be making again real soon!

  2. Thank you for hosting! I was out of town last week so I’m glad to see that your party was still open! :)

  3. Thanks for hosting-I know you are super busy! I linked up Lime Bars and Iced Coffee this week. I like the new buttons and grabbed them to replace the old ones (which I thought were nice too!) on my blog.

  4. Love the apples! Thanks so much for hosting :)

  5. Thanks again for hostessing!

  6. Hi! I’m new to your party this week…..I’ve linked up some bars I made this week. I’m also your newest follower :)

    Thanks for hosting!

  7. Thank you so much for featuring our Milky Way Bars! I really appreciate it!!! Happy Thursday!
