Sweet Treats Thursday, Silpat Review & Giveaway, and a Wedding

Hi, folks!
Glad you’re here.
I’ve got the mother of all Sweet Treats Thursday posts for you today–
there’s a ton going on!
I’m posting a little early tonight so all my rushing link-and-runners (I’m not judging– I’m totally one of you) can stick around for a second and check it all out!
So hang in there with me, I’ve got some good stuff for ya.
Here we go…
First of all, this has nothing to do with desserts or designs.
But I’m super excited about it, so I’m putting it on here anyway!
I’m heading out to Utah tomorrow for my little brother’s wedding!!!!
How beautiful is his bride-to-be??
Congrats Caleb and Courtney! And I’ll see you soon!!!! Eeeeek!
I meant to get the recipe for this review up earlier today. And it just didn’t happen.
But it’s all good. We’re just making this an everything-included post!
I’ve been crushing on Silpat from a distance for months. Er… maybe longer than that.
Don’t ask me why I haven’t just bought one. But I haven’t.

In case you’re from another planet, here’s what a Silpat Baking Mat does:
You line your baking sheet with it, just like you would normally use foil or parchment paper, and then clean up is a breeze because nothing sticks to it!!!

Suffice it to say, I couldn’t click “reply” fast enough when they asked if I wanted to do a product review for them! Duh. Yes. Please. Now.
When I told my husband, the first thing he said was,
“We have to find the stickiest recipe ever and really test this thing out!!”
[such a guy response. *rolling my eyes*]
Despite the eye rolling, I was on board with the plan 5 seconds later.
And after about 10 seconds of google searching “stickiest dessert ever,” we landed on Sticky Buns.
How terribly obvious.
But to make them even stickier, I added Rolos.
Result: stickiest dessert everrrrrrrrrrr.
{scroll down for the recipe}
And how did Silpat handle the ridiculous amounts of gooey, sticky caramel all baked onto it?
Like a champ. Like it ain’t no thing.
Basically: it laughed at me.
It said, “I could un-stick this in my sleep.”
And it pretty much did.
I’m sure most of you are already pretty familiar with Silpat, but for those of you who aren’t and would like visual proof, I’ve got it covered:
Silpat is awesome.
I highly recommend that every one of you fabulous bakers own at least one!
Annnndddddd: one of you lucky readers will for free!!!!
Silpat is giving away one Half Size Baking Mat to one of you!!

Here are all the ways you can enter the drawing!
(if you have any issues with entering via rafflecopter, just leave me a comment)

a Rafflecopter giveaway

*Drawing is open to US residents only. Sorry!
*I did not receive any monetary compensation for writing this post. However, Silpat did provide a product sample at no cost to me so that I could test it and write an honest review. The opinions stated are all mine.

Rolo Sticky Buns

  • 2 cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 20-25 rolos, unwrapped
  • 1/3 cup margarine or butter, melted
  • 1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
  1. Gently unroll the crescent roll dough. Separate into four rectangles– NOT INTO TRIANGLES!
  2. Chop the rolos into quarters, and spread the pieces evenly over the crescent roll dough.
  3. Roll each rolo-filled rectangle, just like you would if you were making cinnamon rolls or a jelly roll cake.
  4. Just like cinnamon rolls, cut each cylinder into 4 slices.
  5. Place each slice flat inside a lined 9×9 baking dish, edges touching.
  6. Place the butter, brown sugar and corn syrup in a small microwave safe bowl. Cover and microwave for 30 seconds, or until butter is melted.
  7. Mix and pour evenly over rolls.
  8. Bake at 375º according to time given on crescent roll package.

  1. First time here via Silpat’s FB Page. I’m kinda lost ;-), but will find my way through your blog. Good to know another Silpat fan. I don’t bake my macarons without them.

  2. I have been using Silpats for over 5 or 6 years now. My mom used them in a commercial kitchen and I own 4 of them! I rarely use parchment any longer…my original very oldest Silpat is still going strong. I even put them in the dishwasher :-) Eek, don’t tell.
    I couldn’t live without them.
