Every weekend I get a share of local produce from the farmers in our area. Last weekend, we had Okra in our shares. I remember eating fried Okra as a kid and wanted to recreate the dish. So I did.
And it made want to fry more things.
So I picked up a few cans of Pillsbury Grands and got a little fry-happy this week. There’s a lot more coming soon, but I thought these fritters were a great recipe to start with. They’re super easy and (thanks to CrunchPak) they include fruit. Which I thought might help ease you all into the oblivion of fried food I’m about to throw your way…
Simply heat the oil for frying, toss in a piece of dough, follow it up with a half cup of apple chunks, and drown it all in a hefty amount of caramel sundae sauce! Oh– and I sprinkled mine with cinnamon sugar too. I just keep that stuff in a salt shaker so it’s always handy ;)
These are super delicious, quick to whip up, sure to impress company, and certainly the ultimate in comfort food.
Eat up, y’all! …and keep that oil hot. There’s more golden brown goodness coming your way soon!
