Favorite Mousse

This may be my very favorite overall dessert recipe. It’s so easy and so quick to pull together, even at the last minute. It’s almost always what I make when guests are coming over, because it’s always a hit. You can fancy it up or leave it plain, and it’s always delicious. It takes next to no effort at all to change up the flavor by simply using a different pudding mix and different mix-ins and toppings. This is absolutely my go-to recipe whether I’m in a pinch or if I have all day to prepare!

Favorite Mousse

  • 1 - 3.4 oz instant pudding mix
  • 1 1/4 cup skim milk
  • 1 - 8 oz cool whip

  1. Whisk together the pudding mix and the milk until smooth and starting to thicken.
  2. Immediately whisk in half of the cool whip. Switch to a rubber spatula and fold in the remaining cool whip until fully incorporated.

Suggested variations:

  • Whisk in 1/4 cup peanut butter or Nutella to the pudding mix and milk (before the cool whip).
  • Substitute 1/4 cup caramel sundae sauce for 1/4 cup of the milk.
  • Add 1-2 tbsp. flour to make a “cookie dough” type pudding mousse.
