Donsuemor Cute Cakes {Cutie Pie}

I was recently given the opportunity to sample a box of Donsuemor’s Cute Cakes and charged with creating a recipe that would uphold the adorable deliciousness that is Donsuemor desserts.
Have you heard of Donsuemor products? Truthfullly, I hadn’t. But I was very pleasantly surprised when I received my sample box and A) the chocolate wasn’t melted all over the place, B) the cakes were moist and delicious
{I think I was kind of expecting that Hostess mini-cakes texture and taste, you know, because they’re packaged kind of similarly– NOT THE SAME AT ALL}.
Have a look:
Anyway, back to the matter at hand: the recipe. After I tasted these yummy little morsels, I knew creating a recipe would be a piece of cake.. well, in this case, pie.
Cute Cakes {Cutie Pie} Recipe:
Ingredients:
  • 1 box of Donuemor Cute Cakes
  • 1 unbaked pie crust (store bought or homemade- your call!)
  • 1/2 cup butter (softened)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 Tbsp. almond flour (cornmeal can be substituted)
  • 1 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • approximately 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • approximately 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream

The Process:

1. Press pie crust into a deep pie dish (a cute dish is highly recommended).
2. Cut each Cute Cake into quarters and place in pie crust.

 3. In a stand mixer, whisk together the butter, sugar, eggs, almond flour, vinegar, and vanilla. {It’s not going to look all pretty and creamy, so don’t worry if you think yours looks wrong!}
4. Pour over the cute cakes and gently incorporate with a rubber spatula.
5. Let rest for at least an hour in the fridge (I left mine in over night, so longer is okay too).
6. Bake at 350º for 30-40 minutes until golden brown (it should smell wonderful).

7.  Put the chocolate chips in a medium, microwave-safe bowl. Pour in heavy cream, just level with the chips (if you don’t use it all, that’s ok). Microwave for 1 minute, and whisk until smooth.
8. Let the ganache cool slightly (about 5 minutes). Pour and gently spread the ganache over the pie.

{I added a squiggle of white chocolate and sprinkles, you know, to make it cute…}
Slice and serve warm, cooled, or chilled– it’s going to be delicious.
No matter how you cut it {pun totally intended}, you’ll quickly go from this:
to this…
…and you’ll definitely need some of this:
{Enjoy}
