Copy Cat Recipe: Jamba Juice Peanut Butter Moo'd

First of all, I need to give a huge shout out to Hayley over at The Domestic Rebel for making this photo shoot happen. I don’t live near a Jamba Juice anymore, and she oh-so-generously  snail-mailed me two Jamba Juice cups just so I could take pictures of my homemade version! She’s a peach, I tell ya.

Anyway. You can read all about my love story with Peanut Butter Moo’d over at Food Fanatic, but in a nutshell: me + Peanut Butter Moo’d = the Freshman 25. Oh, it was so bad. But in such a good way…

Out here in the South East we don’t have Jamba Juice (at least we didn’t back in 2004, maybe it’s changed since then…), and when I discovered smoothies in college it was like a whole new world of desserts opened up to me! Of course, some of them are healthier than others. And, likewise, some of them are a little more decadent than others.

I, of course, was naturally attracted to the more dessert like smoothies on the menu. But I have good news! With the use of frozen bananas, you can eliminate the chocolate frozen yogurt the smoothie chains usually use in their chocolate smoothies. A frozen banana keeps everything just as creamy, and you can use chocolate almond milk to sweeten it up and add the chocolate flavor (chocolate milk works just as well, but chocolate almond milk is a little healthier).

If you’re a Peanut Butter Moo’d lover, you don’t want to miss out on this recipe! Check out my post over at Food Fanatic for the recipe!

  1. I went to Jamba Juice for the first time the other day. If I had known they had a peanut butter smoothie, I would have ordered this! Now I will have to try your recipe. 😉

  2. I managed a Jamba for a few years after high school (yikes!! That was waaaay too long ago! LOL). I’m not sure if the recipe has evolved over the last 15-17 years, but back then we used chocolate soy milk, vanilla non-fat frozen yogurt, peanut butter, banana & ice. And before it was a PB Moo’d it was Peanut Butter Paradise & we made it with real peanuts instead of the PB – it was faaaaaaantastic! I miss that version. Sometimes I make myself a PB Moo’d with chunky PB just so I can have those chunks again!
