This is my mom’s famous banana bread recipe, and it’s one of my favorite foods from my childhood! It’s a fabulous way to use overripe bananas, bakes up in muffin form nicely, and freezes exceptionally well.
We definitely consider this a staple recipe in our family, and I’ll take that a step further and say it’s a staple in my comfort food repertoire. I think it has emotional healing properties… especially effective for taming wild hormonal outbursts.
And, er… I can personally vouch for that last bit.
I love my mom’s baking. And her banana bread is like a great, big chocolate-chippy hug from her (we definitely express our love in chocolate chip and M&M form in our family).
So… if you ever need a hug from my mom, make this bread. It’s pretty much the exact same feeling ;)
